The Subaru Vancouver Triathlon will be staged in the magnificent setting of the Spanish Banks Beaches with stunning views of the downtown Vancouver skyline and the picturesque North Shore Mountains. This event promises to be the most beautiful urban triathlon you will ever experience!

Event location:
Locarno Beach at the Jericho Sailing Centre,
1300 Discovery Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada
Swim: Half = 1.9 KM, Short Course= 500m
Picturesque ocean swim at Locarno Beach overlooking downtown Vancouver and the North Shore mountains. The Half course will be a two lap course, and the Short Course will be a shorter single lap inside the The Half course.
- All Half participants must finish the swim before the cut-off of 7:45AM. There is no cut-off for the Short Course .
- All participants will be given a swim cap that must be worn during the swim.

Bike: Half IM= 93KM, Short Course = 26KM
Bike route along the Spanish Banks beaches and UBC roads. This will be a 4 loop route for the Half IM and a single loop for the Short Course that is scenic yet challenging.
- All Half participants must finish the bike before the cut-off of 11:30AM. There is no cut-off for the Short Course.
- Aid Stations: 1 aid station per loop.

Run: Half = 21KM, Short Course = 5KM
Run on the trails of the Spanish Banks Beaches. This is a spectator friendly course that will showcase the Spanish Banks beaches with great views of downtown Vancouver and the North Shore Mountains.

Refund Policy:
- Race Entry minus $60 fee if athlete withdraws before Jan. 31, 2009, no refunds will be issued or considered after Jan. 31, 2009.
- All entries are non-transferable.
- Be sure you can and will race prior to registering. The exchange of entries is strictly prohibited.
Online Registration closes on midnight July 8 or sooner if the race fills up. This triathlon is limited to 500 participants.
An additional $15.00 for each participant, or $6.00 for each member of a relay team, will be charged on your entry form if a VALID TriBC# is not provided.

Vancouver Long Distance Triathlon Preparation Camp
Saturday, June 6, 2009, $95.00
This camp is limited to 25 participants.
Join the coaches of LifeSport for this camp to ensure you meet your goals come race day! This camp will include a nice goodie bag as well.
9:15: |
LECTURE: LifeSport coaches will lecture on bike and run pacing, half-iron nutrition planning, as well as running technique for triathlon. |
10:30: |
TRAINING: Brick (Bike to Run) session - bike one lap of the bike course (45km), followed by a run on the course (10 km). Athletes will be given specific training goals for the brick session. |
2:00: |
LECTURE: Open water swimming, sighting, swimming straight, group swimming dynamics, and wetsuit adjustment. Learn to swim smart, and swim faster! Tips on picking your start spot, swimming safely, sighting and swimming straight, how to use stroke rate and draft effectively in the open water. |
3:00: |
TRAINING: OPEN WATER SWIM - Balance Drills, Start simulation and Endurance Swim. Supported open water swim practice on the course, plus coaching debrief. |
4:15: |
WRAP UP: Debrief, Q&A, wrap-up and goodies. |

Event Sanctioning:
This event will be sanctioned by Triathlon British Columbia. Triathlon British Columbia rules will apply. Please review all the rules at http://www.tribc.org. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. Your chin strap must be buckled at all times you are in contact with the bike even in the transition area.
Race Garment:

Relay Teams:
Teams may consist of two or three members, Team divisions include: male, female and mixed.
- Hand off your timing chip in the transition area at your assigned bike rack
- All relay participants need to be body marked
- Only the runner wears the race bib

Mandatory Bike Drop & Race Package Pick-Up
- All bikes must be dropped off and secured overnight at Locarno Beach. The bikes will be kept protected overnight by security.
- Your registration and race package kits including you race garment will be given to you at this time.
- All members of Triathlon British Columbia must present their membership card.
- Everyone must also sign a waiver.
- Your timing chips will be handed out on Sunday morning.

Kids Fun Run
This FREE fun and family oriented run will kick start the weekend at Locarno Beach.
- No entry fee or registration required.

Parking:
5:00AM to 6:30AM
Parking will be a challenge and is limited, so please try to car-pool or arrange to be dropped-off at the race site.
- The parking lot at Locarno Beach will be closed at 6:30AM.

Finisher’s Medals for the Half IM Only:
All Half finishers will receive a finisher’s medals.
Awards for Age Groups:
- The Half age categories will be in five year increments
(e.g. Under 24, 25-29, 30-34, etc.)
- The Short Course age categories will be in ten year increments
(e.g. Under 20, 20-29, 30-39, etc.)
- Your age group is determined by your age on December 31, 2008.
Timing & Results:
We will use Chip Timing from Race Headquarters, live timing will be available from the LifeSport website.
