Day 4 of LifeSport in Hawaii
-
The Ford Ironman World Championship Official Training camp is over. It was a huge success, we met a lot of amazing people who are determined to have a great experience. Two of the women in the camp were doing this race not only for themselves but for different causes. Helen Hatcher from England, raised over $1 million for cancer. www.teenagecancertrust.org and Crystal Flaman, Kelowna BC, has already raised over $200,000 for Room to Read with a goal of $800,000 by next spring, www.inspiredtogivenow.org. This sport brings out amazing people who train, raise families and do charity work.
The LifeSport staff is still as busy as ever! Today was the first day of the “LifeSport Lounge” where anyone interested in Coaching or meeting some of triathlons stars can come, sit back, relax and have a coffee. It was also Day 1 of the Expo, and Coach Dan took the first shift.
Some of the people who stopped in to the Lounge today were able to meet LifeSport pro athletes, Katya Meyers, Linsey Corbin, and Ironman Canada Super star Belinda Granger. Linsey and Katya both participated in parts of the camp this weekend. Get your picture taken for the LifeSport wall of fame – everyone who stops in the Lounge gets to wear a Lai and gets a picture taken that will be posted on the wall! It’s just something fun that people seem to be enjoying. Not only will you get your picture taken in the Lounge but you can enter your name into a draw to win a LifeSport Race package, which includes a cycle jersey and shorts, a visor, race belt and Timex watch. The lounge will be open until Friday at 4 PM, that’s when the draw will take place.
I look forward to hanging out in the lounge this week. Some more pro’s such as, Bree Wee, Chris Lieto, and 2008 Olympians Lisa Mensink and Carolyn Murray are sure to stop in. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
